About Me

Hi! I’m Andrew Warneke, a solo bass artist living in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I play original solo pieces and perform in various genres with bands like the John Edwards Jazz Trio, the Jack Rabbit Slims and 2che folk duo. One of my main musical goals has always been to break the perception that the bass is a 'background' instrument, as I love the tone of the bass played melodically and in a solo context. I released my first solo album, Just the Bassics, in 2009. The tracks are inspired by life, love and God and hopefully my passion for music is passed on to the listener through the simplicity and beauty of each song. I graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Music from the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University in 2006, and have been the accredited bass lecturer there since 2006, and a full time music teacher at Harvest Christian School since 2007. My other main goal has been to dedicate my life to music and to showing others how to be inspired by it. Whether it’s through teaching someone to play music, or through someone listening to my songs, I love the way music can inspire people. I use Hartke amplifiers and Cort basses exclusively.
